For our pharmaceutical sector, we are recruiting a Senior Director Operations (M/F) - Large Molecules to be based in our Leiden site on a permanent contract.

What can you expect?

The Sr. Director Operation has end responsibility for the Business Unit which produces large molecules drug substance. This is the largest production unit on the Site. She/he is accountable to deliver the production output according to the Master Production Schedule (MPS) in a safe and compliant manner. This includes the (shift) operation of Preculture, Fermentation, Primary Recovery, and Downstream Processing to support the production of legacy products and NPI.

This leader has excellent knowledge of the production process, knows how to coach and motivate people and is decisive when needed. She/he will lead a unit of ~600 FTE.

Your responsibilities are:

• Accountable for overall performance of the plant and reliable delivery against production plan goals.
• Ensure and drive Quality and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance across the Business Unit (BU). Ensure and drive reliability across the BU.
• Create and maintain an environment that prioritizes and holds operations management accountable for Environment, Health and Safety (EHS).
• Serves as a role model for our company Credo values, Safety, Quality and lean.
• Development of long-term strategy for Operations in alignment with the site - and the Large Molecule network strategy and defines operational plan to execute it.
• Complete strategic projects within the BU - ensure plant goals are aligned to Site/network priorities.
• Set the innovation strategy for the BU, ensuring innovative ideas have fertile ground in the operations team.
• Ensure alignment of Goals and Objectives within the BU.
• Influence across the matrix and collaborate with other functions (e.g. Quality, Engineering, Procurement, IT, HR, Planning, Facility management and EHS).
• Strategic planning of personnel, identifies, coaches and develops talent.
• Responsible for flawless introduction of new products.
• Accountable for compliance and alignment with financial agenda and calendars for business planning, budget and financial reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement through J&J Production System, Lean and building of functional expertise, like Data and Digital capabilities.
• Deputy for General Manager and active participation in the Janssen Supply Chain network.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Production/Supply Chain leader (15+ years of experience) with strong knowledge of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. A result-oriented, inspiring leader and true team player with an end-to-end mindset. Experience in another relevant function, besides production, is a must. This person connects easily at all levels in the organization and leads by example. Operations Experience and knowledge of Dutch are a prerequisites.
